Agent Dana Scully
I know I promised sooo much good art today, but chores kinda got the better of me. To not completely disappoint, tonight you get a preview of the X-Files T-Shirt.
This baby is going online any day now!
I may get it on a mug…
Don’t Break The Chain
THAT’S IT, productivity has evaded me for the last time! Down with procrastination & excuses! No more detours or pit stops on the road to success. It’s time to charge full steam ahead or risk getting left behind.
This is me making a routine & promising to stick to it. You’ll see - in a couple of weeks my blog will be overflowing with content; the way it should be! Expect to see something every day - inspired by my pal metalfuram's sketches for her 365 day drawing challenge :)
Now without further adieu, here’s the new line-up!
My Pick Mondays - I’ll start the week off nice & slow with a free-for-all day. This post will likely be daily doodles, but expect finished illustrations & other surprises from time to time too.
T-Shirt Tuesdays & Thursdays - With Anime North just around the corner & my stack of acceptable fan art looking rather thin, right now I have to devote lots of time to rolling out new prints. Once that’s over though I’ll do exclusively t-shirt designs :D I also want to start updating my online shops properly, so with each print/t-shirt posted you’ll also find a link to where you can get it online - you know, in case you cant make it to AN to buy it in person ^_^
WebComic Wednesdays & Weekends - Finally with the drive to post daily, I have the opportunity to post a web comic - the only problem is, which one!? Stuck on two concepts, I’ve decided to try posting both. First, my long-overdue Steam-punk Apocalyptic web comic on the Weekend, giving me time to finish them throughout the week. The second, a personal Slice-of-Life web comic for Wednesday based on my Pet Robot illustration - aka somewhere I can illustrate my deep thoughts through childish jokes & cheesy one-liners.
Freebie Fridays - At the end of each week I want to post a small design project - stationary or phone wallpaper or greetings cards or icons. These projects are for my portfolio, but when I can I’ll be posting them as free downloads for all my lovely followers to enjoy :)
So come check back every day!
(or, you know, just follow)

Easy & Hard Challenge
Day 1 - Portrait / Action Pose
I’ll be doing a bunch of fan art in the months to come because I’ve finally made it into Anime North’s Comic Market. It’s been a dream of mine to get in since back when it was still Artist’s Alley & you could still sell cute button (seriously - boo on the no buttons this year, boo) Due to my friend ALICE WANG’S good fortune, we will be there selling loads of awesome illustrations & doing super cute commissions. Be sure to stop by! ;)
Yesterday I was at work all day, so all I was able to do were a few sketchbook doodles in my down time. I didn’t get a chance to post them on time - but I do hope to get all 20 days done. Action pose Levi - and technically a portrait of a Titan too. I’ll get a color version of the bottom one up soon - with less shirtless-ness & more variety in characters. Sorry, at work = no internet for reference. For now though, onto challenge day 2!
Sketch for a new logo. Today was a productive day :-)
Over the holidays I did a doodle that turned into more than I expected. With ‘chocolate truffles’ as a start word, I tried out my new gold marker & a bit of fancy lettering and got something kinda neat : the illustration in image 1 - minus photoshop extras. It sparked the idea for an imaginary truffle bakery logo design - finally, something I can put in my portfolio. I love the idea of logo & type design!
Practice makes perfect I guess, so onto the next project! …or maybe even more of this one? I could retouch the logo & add a menu, business card, and/or package design. Good idea? Y/N?
Oh, but first - any suggestions on the color?
Thanks for the input ❤ Dani.K
Here’s a cute ‘Frozen’ inspired card I put together while pondering the sad absence of cloaks in today’s society. Seriously though, why are cloaks not the go-to fashion choice during this super chilly season? They’re heavy, warm, unisex, cute & a hell of a lot classier than bulky winter coats. They’re practical robes for your average Jane & Joe, not just something made for wizards & witches & whatnot. We really need some fashion forward folk to take up the call of the cloak, and soon, before I freeze my booty off in these flimsy ‘winter’ jackets! #CanadianProblems
It’s almost doooone :O Oh, and FYI, Sai is amaze-balls.
To keep myself motivated during my rut, I’ve decided to start a large project - an awesomely illustrated game! I’ve been doing mostly concept work, as you can see, and trying to decide exactly WHAT kind of a game I want to make. At first I was thinking of doing a funny fantasy card game, but now I’ve decided to try tackling an even MORE CHALLENGING project: a digital game :O I know a bit about coding & I’ve got tutorials out the anus, so I figure if I rotate between concept doodles, coding practice, and coming up with an epic-ass final game idea, at some point things will start falling into place & I’ll be on my way! :D
I am now open for commissions! Please check my info page, and if you’re interested or have any questions, shoot me an e-mail at email@example.com.
I’ll add more examples to this post soon - but for now if you need more examples of my work you can explore my blog! I would really appreciate it if you could help me out by spreading this around.
Go buy her stuff, you know you want to
This weekend my Zelda post managed to hit 7000 notes, so I decided to make something special to commemorate the occasion. Everybody, say hello to aquiveringsmile! This is the lovely lady who helped me finally hit that 7k. Her blog’s display picture was too cute to ignore. I would drink coffee all the time if I had dinos on my cup!! Oh wait, I drink coffee all the time anyway …well, dinos would make the experience a lot more enjoyable! Seriously, I want that cup.
Anyway, I think I may do a few more random bust shots over the next few days. Hopefully then I can set up commissions! :O I really need to make some dolla’ dolla’ bills soon, or I’m going to have to start eating my artwork for nourishment. Yum, paper cuts.
SO, thanks to every one of you that passed around my illustration, even the ones who didn’t source me. Hopefully my next big hit will get me the credit I deserve, but until then, THANKS for the lovings, and remember, keep smiling! :D
Here’s a repost to start the day off. Enjoy EVERYTHING IS BETTER WITH A PET ROBOT, finally with the intended colors & textures, HUZZAH!!! As you can see, I’ve learned a thing or too about saving for the web. Yikes, how did I survive my art schooling? Lord only knows… Well, later gators!
Can You Reach The Golden Eggs?
This is an old school piece that I always thought turned out rather well. The medium is a foam paper with a sticky back, cut & molded on illustration board to make an almost 3D, pop-out shape. It was really cool, and I totally advise working with the stuff if you can find it.
I hope this fancy fairy tale piece has kept you entertained, but worry not, I AM actually working on something currently. In fact, you can expect an awesome new illustration some time late Friday / early Saturday, huzzah for new things!! Want to take a stab at it’s contents? Here’s a hint - it’s fanart, and I’ve made it for a special day. So, can you guess what it is? :3
